My hair will eat you haha!

Tohru's Rule No. 1! ♥

I found this great page on wikiHow, titled, 'How to be like Tohru Honda'. So I thought I'd use the tips from this page to create a set of rules, which I will post individually. ^_^

Let's begin! ♥

Tohru's Rule No. 1 is:

'Be Kind!'

Never once has Tohru ever been cruel or mean in any way, so always try your best to be nice and kind. ^_^

Good Afternoon! ♥

Hello and a humble bow to you all! ^_^ My name is Emma, I am 18 years old and I live in the UK! This is a picture of me wearing my favourite polka-dot playsuit... ♥

I expect you might be wondering what this blog is all about... So I'll give you the best explanation I can! ♥

A few years ago I got really into a manga series called Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya. Fans of the series often shorten the name to 'Furuba', so that's how I'll refer to it on my blog. ^_^

This is the cover art of Volume No. 1 of Furuba! ♥

Here's a very brief overview of the story... (Don't worry, no spoilers!) Furuba is about a girl called Tohru Honda. She is an orphan without a home, until she gets taken in by the Sohma family. She soon finds out that the Sohma family are far from ordinary, as many members of the family are possessed by spirits of the Zodiac! ^o^

The story is about how Tohru lives with the strange, magical Sohma family as their friend, cook, and housekeeper. Two other members of the household are also her classmates; Yuki Sohma and Kyo Sohma. These two hate each other even though they are cousins. Yuki is possessed by the spirit of the Rat and Kyo is possessed by the spirit of the Cat.

The Cat isn't actually a member of the Zodiac, as he was shunned out of the calender by the Rat in an ancient legend. From that moment on the Cat was always after the Rat for revenge, which is why Yuki and Kyo always fight! ^_^

This is a still of Yuki and Kyo in a fight, taken from the Fruits Basket anime.

So I expect you may be wondering, why have I chosen the fictional character of Tohru Honda to be my lifestyle guru? ^_^ The truth is, Tohru has the most amazing character in the world! ♥ She is always kind, always optimistic, always generous, always thoughtful and always smiling! She is amazing at cooking and cleaning, she always wears cute feminine clothes and always puts others before herself. In the story she is referred to as an 'onigiri' several times. An onigiri is a Japanese riceball! ^_^ This comes from her past, a story of which I will tell in a future post... But it basically refers to the fact that she is different and unique, because an onigiri doesn't fit into a Fruits Basket. ♥

I felt such a connection with Tohru that I decided to study her character in depth, and write this blog about my experiences! ♥

I will update very regularly about how I am intergrating the spirit of Tohru into every area of my life, including posts about Tohru's character, quotes from Furuba, Tohru's recipes and her outfits! Please stay tuned, this is so fun for me! ^_^

Have a nice day!!
